“Mexicanum” is a variety of the commonly known, Mexican Swamp Cypress, and is a fabulous tree that will tolerate heavy soils. The rich green, somewhat feathery foliage hangs from gently arching branches on this deciduous conifer. The tree is further accentuated with yellow autumn colours before the leaves fall. It grows with an upright and broad habit to about 20 m tall and 9 m wide. This variety prefers to grow in full sun on a well-drained site that does not dry out but will grow well on heavy, wet soils. It also tolerates wind, frost, and cool climates. The Mexican Swamp Cypress is a great tree for planting in wetter areas of a large garden and for planting around water features such as ponds. It makes for a great specimen.
