“Braeburn” is a popular variety of apple that bears large fruit towards the end of autumn. The fruit are coloured light green, yellow, and red with flesh that is juicy and very tasty. The M9 rootstock keeps this deciduous tree to about 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. It is self-pollinating and so does not require another apple variety planted close by to produce fruit. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. “Braeburn” on this rootstock is commonly planted for fruit production, included in a mixed planting, or maintained in a courtyard garden. It is not suited to sub-tropical climates.
