“Tifblue” is a Blueberry variety that produces good yields of medium sized, dark blue fruit. Young berries are pink but age to blue and are produced from late summer into autumn. New foliage is blue-green, matures to mid-green, then develops red-orange tones in autumn before falling. In warmer climates it may remain evergreen, however. This shrub typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of cool climates, though frosts in late spring can reduce yields. For this reason, it is more commonly grown in warmer climates. “Tifblue” is commonly grown for its delicious fruit and often included into a mixed planting or maintained in a container. Planting several varieties is recommended to ensure a continuous supply of fruit over a long period.
