“Crowley” is a variety of Cranberry grown commercially in the US for fruit production. It produces good yields of medium to large sized, dark red berries in late summer. This ground hugging plant will only reach about 20 cm tall but spreads up about 2 m wide. The plant itself has small and densely packed, dark green leaves which develop purple tones through winter. Best performance is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. This hardy variety will tolerate moderate frost and partial shade. “Crowley” is commonly used as a groundcover, maintained in a container, or planted specifically for fruit production. About 2kg of fruit per square metre is expected in the third year of production.
