Grevillea 'Bronze Rambler' (Spider Flower) Details

Grevillea ‘Bronze Rambler’, commonly known as Spider Flower, is a colourful, prostrate shrub grown for its foliage and flowers. The flowers produced from winter through spring are dark pink and spider like in appearance. The foliage comprises finely textured, dark green leaves which emerge a bronze colour and are held on purple stems. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is frost hardy and tolerant of both dry periods and coastal conditions. Grevillea ‘Bronze Rambler’ is commonly used as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting, added to a ‘tropical’ garden, maintained in a container, or planted en masse around larger trees or on a bank. It looks amazing when allowed to cascade over walls and rocks.

Buying Grevillea ‘Bronze Rambler’ as a ground cover plant

Grevillea 'Bronze Rambler' is an excellent choice for a groundcover! It is a fast-growing and spreading plant that can cover large areas up to 2-3 meters wide. The dense foliage helps to suppress weeds and can also reduce soil erosion. Once it is established, it requires minimal watering and pruning. The foliage bronze and green foliage is highly aesthetic and becomes complemented with masses of spider-like, deep purple-red flowers throughout the year and attract birds and pollinators. ‘Bronze Rambler’ should be spaced 1-2 m apart when used as a ground cover. With good growing conditions the plants will merge in 2-3 years at this spacing.
