“Louis” is a variety of Hebe grown for its lovely flowers, foliage, and ground covering growth habit. The foliage comprises small and glossy green leaves, which are held on prostrate branches. These are adorned by masses of showy, white flowers through spring and autumn. It grows with a spreading habit and typically reaches 25 cm tall and 90 cm wide. This variety grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and will tolerate frost, coastal environments, wind, and periods of dry, but does not do well on wet, heavy soils. “Louis” is commonly included in borders, used as a groundcover, planted so it can spill out onto a path or over a wall, included in rock and “white” gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas such as pools.
