Juncus kraussii is commonly known as the Sea Rush and features long, dark green leaves with a golden-brown sheath. The roots are a series of rhizomes which allows the plant to survive in harsh climates and spread quickly. Each plant will typically grow to about 1 m tall and the same wide but it will colonise much larger areas. It grows best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, wind, and coastal environments. The Sea Rush is a great plant for stabilizing banks and planting around salt marshes and riparian zones. It is also often planted alongside waterways around urban, recreational, and industrial sites.
