Commonly known as Mondo Grass, this ornamental grass is grown for its fine, dark green foliage and short stature. The foliage is complemented with flower spikes in summer which bears tiny, lilac flowers and are followed by blue-black berries. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, cool climates, and dry periods once established. This Mondo Grass is best showcased with a mass planting and is commonly added to rock gardens, used in borders, grown as a groundcover, planted around outdoor living areas, or simply maintained in a container.
