Coleonema ‘Sunset Gold’ is a very popular and award-winning shrub in NZ gardens. It features bright, golden-yellow foliage which releases a pleasant and light fragrance when brushed against. The leaves are soft, feathery, and borne on slender stems. From late winter through spring the shrub becomes covered in masses of small, pink flowers. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, and dry periods. Coleonema ‘Sunset Gold’ is a great plant for using as a groundcover, including in mixed plantings and borders, or planting near a walkway where its aromatic foliage can be appreciated.
