“Spring Song” is a deciduous shrub grown for its colourful flowering in spring. At this time, masses of showy, rose pink flowers are borne just as the foliage emerges. The glossy, young leaves are green with bronze overtones and quickly age to become dark green. At autumn progresses they develop colourful orange, red, and dark purple tones before falling. It grows with a rounded habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this shrub are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. “Spring Song” is commonly included in mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, used to border an entrance, maintained in a courtyard garden, or included in cottage gardens.
