Corokia ‘Geenty's Giant’ is a hardy, NZ native shrub grown for its lovely foliage and tidy form. It bears green-yellow foliage held densely on slender, upright branches. Masses of small, mildly fragrant, yellow flowers are produced through summer and are followed by small, yellow berries in autumn which are great for attracting birds. This evergreen typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and tolerates wind, frost, coastal conditions, and periods of dry once established. Corokia ‘Geenty’s Giant’ is commonly trimmed into a hedge but also makes a great addition to a mixed planting or is used for planting on those ‘difficult to grow’ sites.
