The flowers are complemented with lush, green foliage which serves as a lovely backdrop. This evergreen grows densely to about 30 cm tall and the same wide, and performs best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade, protected from frost. Cuphea ‘Mad Hatter’ is commonly included in border plantings, maintained in a container, added to cottage or rock gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like.
