Escallonia ‘Snowbud’ is a popular variety of Escallonia due to its attractive foliage and quaint flowers. Glossy, green leaves contrast beautifully with the clusters of pure white flowers in spring and summer. It typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. Even with hard pruning it will regrow. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to moderate frost, wind, and coastal environments. IN NZ gardens Escallonia ‘Snowbud’ is commonly included in mixed plantings, trimmed into a hedge with plants spaced 50 cm apart, or planted around outdoor living areas. A mass planting produces a stunning display with this variety.
