Grevillea ‘Canberra Gem’, commonly known as Spider Flower, is a fast-growing shrub renowned for its striking flowers and great foliage. Showy clusters of pink-red, spider-like flowers are borne from late winter through spring. They are great for attracting nectar feeding birds, and complemented with fine, dark green leaves. It typically grows to 1.8 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. This evergreen performs best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is frost hardy and tolerant of both dry periods and coastal environments. Grevillea ‘Canberra Gem’ is commonly included in mixed plantings, added to Mediterranean themed gardens, used for hedging or screening, planted as a backdrop for smaller plants, grown around pool and other living areas, or mass planted on a bank or the like for a magical display. It is also well suited to being maintained in a container or planted to brighten a dull spot in the garden.
