Griselinia littoralis ‘Broadway Mint’, commonly known as Kapuka or NZ Broadleaf, is a fast growing, small, NZ native tree with dense branching and lush foliage which makes it perfect for hedging. The foliage comprises large and glossy, wavy leaves which gives it a fresh and vibrant appeal. Small, green flowers in spring are followed by green-black fruits in autumn which are great for attracting birds. Left untrimmed Griselinia ‘Broadway Mint’ will grow to 5 m tall and 3 m wide, but it is often clipped to sizes much less than this. It grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site and will tolerate coastal conditions, wind, and frost. This NZ Broadleaf makes a beautiful hedge and a fantastic screen, but also makes for a lovely specimen, or as a colourful backdrop for smaller plants. The gorgeous foliage and versatility of this plant makes this Griselinia littoralis a popular choice for NZ gardens.
