Hebe ‘Red Edge’ is a variety of Hebe that features colourful foliage and pretty flowers. This NZ native produces masses of small but pretty, lilac-coloured flowers which gradually fade to white. These are produced through summer and autumn amidst the small and thick, grey-green leaves. The leaves emerge purple and have a red margin. This evergreen shrub grows densely with a rounded shape to about 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, and dry periods. Hebe ‘Red Edge’ is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in borders, grown in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or mass planted on a bank or the like for a very effective display.
