“Psyche” is a variety of Hibiscus grown for its pretty flowers through summer and autumn. The flowers are bright red and are held off upright, slender branches above the glossy green leaves. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as moderate frost once established. In cool climates it may become deciduous or partially deciduous during winter. “Psyche” is commonly grown as a showy specimen, used as an informal hedge, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
