“Sidonie” is a variety of Lavender that grows as a compact shrub and carries masses of attractive, short, flower spikes. The spikes are topped with delicate, blue-purple petals and are borne from spring through summer. The foliage is green-grey and complements the darker flowers nicely. Both the flowers and foliage produce a lovely aroma when cut or brushed against. This evergreen typically grows to 30 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry conditions but does require protection from heavy frost when young. This Lavender is commonly used in cottage gardens, included in mixed plantings and borders, or grown in a container. A mass planting either on a bank or as a groundcover will give a dramatic display.
