“Coral Candy” is a NZ native shrub grown for its impressive flowering. It produces double flowers which are flushed red and pink during spring and summer. They are produced in such abundance that they literally transform the plant. The foliage comprises small, dark green leaves which provides a lovely backdrop to the flowers. This evergreen typically grows to 2 m tall and 1 m wide and new growth can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and will tolerate extended dry periods, heavy soils, frost, and cool climates. “Coral Candy” is commonly included in a mixed planting, used for screening and shelter, planted as backdrop for smaller plants, grown to attract native fauna, or trimmed into a hedge. The fine foliage and floriferous nature makes this shrub a fine addition to any garden.
