“Kaikoura” is an evergreen, NZ native shrub featuring leathery, dark green leaves with a wavy margin. The foliage is held densely and complemented with mildly fragrant, white flowers through summer. This shrub typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, wind, periods of dry, moderate frost, and a range of soil conditions, barring extreme wet or dry. “Kaikoura” is commonly included in a mixed or native planting, trimmed into a hedge, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
