Commonly known as Swamp Ribbonwood, this NZ native shrub features small, green leaves which are held amidst a tight and tangled network of branches. The foliage is complemented with fragrant, cream-yellow flowers in spring. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, frost, cool climates, and heavy soils. In cool climates it may become deciduous during winter but will otherwise be evergreen. This plant is commonly used for revegetating coastal areas but also makes for an impressive hedge or great inclusion in a mixed planting.
