“Silver Box” is a popular, evergreen shrub grown for its pretty flowers and attractive foliage. Small, dark blue flowers are borne at the tips of branches from summer through autumn. These complement the grey-green foliage which is held on upright stems. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of coastal environments, moderate frost, and short periods of dry once established. “Silver Box” is commonly included in a mixed planting, included in a cottage garden, maintained in a container, trimmed into a low hedge, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools, or mass planted for a lovely display. The versatility and attractiveness of this plant makes it very popular.
