“Apple Blossom” is a variety of Weigela grown for its colourful flowers and columnar growth habit. This compact shrub produces green leaves which are held densely on upright stems. The foliage is complemented with masses of rose-pink flowers through spring and summer which are great for attracting birds. The combination of flowers and foliage produces a fantastic and eye-catching display. This deciduous plant grows with an upright habit to about 1 m tall and 80 cm wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. This shrub is commonly included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, trimmed into a hedge, used in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is also well-suited to being maintained in a container.
