This maple is grown for its rich foliage and impressive form. The leaves on this deciduous tree emerge light yellow with a red tinge. They age to light green, before turning bright yellow in autumn and falling. It grows with an open habit to form a crown of sturdy branches and eventually reaches 10 m tall and 6 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. This tree is suitable for parks, large gardens, and makes for a fabulous specimen and shade tree.
