“Osakazuki” is an impressive Japanese Maple featuring a rich display of colourful foliage held on gently arching branches. Leaves on this deciduous tree emerge a pink-bronze colour in spring, age to green, then turn a bright, scarlet red colour in autumn before falling. The autumn show is quite spectacular. It grows with a rounded habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a sheltered, well-drained site. It is tolerant of frosts, cool climates, some wind, and will grow on a range of soil types, but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. “Osakazuki” makes for a magnificent specimen and is ideal for mixed plantings, growing for autumn colour, planting around outdoor living areas, or using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
