Fraxinus ornus is a deciduous, rounded tree grown for both its foliage and flowering. Showy clusters of fluffy, cream-white flowers are produced across the tree during summer. The impressive flowers are borne amidst the dark green foliage. The leaves emerge a fresh green in spring, age to dark green, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 9 m tall and 6 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate dry periods, frost, cool climates, and some wind.
