Commonly known as the Tulip Tree, this is a deciduous tree favoured for its flowers, foliage, and amazing form. The yellow-orange flowers in summer are tulip like in size, shape, and appearance. They are complemented with large and glossy, green leaves which turn a rich shade of yellow in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 20 m tall and 4 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, and moderate wind, but should be protected while establishing. This Liriodendron makes for a lovely specimen or shade tree in a larger garden or park, and is well suited to avenue planting.
