“D.D. Blanchard” is a popular variety of Magnolia due to its flowering performance and attractive foliage. From late spring through summer flower buds open to reveal large, fragrant, cream-white flowers. The blooms appear amidst the large and glossy, dark green leaves and together provide an outstanding display. This evergreen grows with a pyramidal shape to about 20 m tall and 15 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This Magnolia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost and cool climates. “D.D. Blanchard” is commonly grown as a specimen, added into a mixed planting in a large garden, or used in an avenue planting.
