“Lanarth” is a variety of Magnolia grown for its spectacular flowering. Through late winter and early spring, it bears masses of large and showy, semi-double, fragrant, dark pink flowers which are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. Foliage emerges soon after and is large, dark green, and lush. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 5 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This Magnolia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. “Lanarth” is a prized Magnolia variety that is commonly added to a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, included in cottage gardens, or used a stunning backdrop for smaller plants. It is a very rewarding tree with great aesthetics.
