“Lennei Alba” is an outstanding variety of Magnolia due to its spectacular flowering. Through late winter and early spring, it bears masses of fragrant, ivory-white flowers. The showy flowers are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. Foliage emerges soon after and is large, dark green, and lush. As autumn progresses the leaves develop colourful yellow tones before falling. It grows with a somewhat rounded shape to about 5 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost. “Lennei Alba” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, added to a cottage garden, or trimmed into a hedge. The beauty of this tree will please no matter where it is used.
