“Lemon Fragrant” is an outstanding, evergreen tree grown for both its foliage and flowers. It grows as a small and shapely tree carrying glossy, dark green leaves which are attractive in their own right. Velvet buds are borne through winter and spring and open to reveal exquisite, cream-white flowers with a light, lemon fragrance. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or semi-shade on a well-drained, sheltered position. It is tolerant of moderate frost and short periods of dry though will benefit from being protected while establishing. “Lemon Fragrant” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, clipped into a hedge, included in a cottage or “white” garden, or used as a backdrop for other plantings. This tree is easy to grow and very rewarding.
