“Cleopatra” is a variety of Michelia grown for its spectacular flowering. This small, evergreen tree produces masses of showy and fragrant, cream-coloured flowers with a pink overtone through spring. They are produced amidst the lush and glossy, dark green leaves. It grows with an upright and spreading habit to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed and shaped as necessary. This evergreen grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of moderate frost once established. “Cleopatra” is commonly trimmed into a hedge, grown as a pleached hedge, grown as a specimen, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or used anywhere a stunning tree is required. It is well suited to cottage and courtyard gardens.
