Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Wrinkled Blue’ is one of the more popular Pittosporum varieties due to its attractive form and versatility. This small, NZ native tree grows vigorously, producing small, silver-blue, wavy-edged leaves on thin, black stems. The growth is held tightly as it grows to 4 m tall and 2 m wide. Regular trimming encourages new growth and ensures the plant remains dense. It performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of wind, coastal conditions, periods of dry, moderate frost, and most soil types, except extreme wet. Pittosporum ‘Wrinkled Blue’ is commonly included in coastal gardens, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, trimmed into a hedge, or planted for shelter and screening.
