“Blireiana” is a variety of Flowering Plum that features masses of fragrant, rose-pink, double blossoms in spring just before the foliage emerges. New foliage in spring is a distinctive dark purple-red colour, which ages to claret red, and remains this colour until falling in autumn. This deciduous tree grows with a broad and rounded crown to about 6 m tall and 5 m wide, and performs best when planted in a full sun position on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. “Blireiana” is a stunning tree when in flower and makes a fine addition to any garden. It is commonly used in avenue plantings, grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included in Japanese and cottage gardens.
