“Bradford” is a variety of Ornamental Pear grown for its prolific flowering, tidy form, and fantastic autumn colours. Masses of single, white flowers are borne in spring just as the leaves emerge. The lush foliage emerges light green, ages to become dark green, then develops burgundy red-brown tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a rounded habit to about 15 m tall and 8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, moderate wind, and periods of dry. “Bradford” is commonly used in street or avenue plantings, grown as specimen, or added to a mixed planting in a larger garden.
