Commonly known as the Turkey Oak, this deciduous tree features colourful and lush foliage. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive yellow and brown tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. This majestic beauty typically grows to 30 m tall and 15 m wide with a rounded and somewhat open crown. It performs best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, though it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, heavy soils, and some wind. The Turkey Oak is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks with the added advantage of fantastic summer shade.
