Commonly known as the English Oak, this is a deciduous tree with lovely foliage and great form. This majestic beauty typically grows to 15 m tall and 5 m wide with a columnar-conical growth habit. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then lightens only slightly in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered position, and is tolerant of frost, cold environments, urban pollution, and dry periods. “Fastigata” is an ideal tree for avenue planting, growing in smaller spaces where a taller tree is required, planting for screening, or growing as a specimen in a park or large garden.
