The Comice pear tree (Pyrus communis Doyenne du Comice) is regarded as having the best flavour of all the pear varieties. It bears green skinned fruit which has a blush of pink when ripe. These ripen in autumn and are held amidst the fresh, green foliage which develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3.5 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. The Doyenne du Comice pear is commonly grown for fruit production, included into a mixed planting, or grown as a specimen.
