Metrosideros excelsa, commonly known as Pohutukawa or NZ Christmas tree, is a coastal, NZ native tree that produces stunning, crimson red flowers in summer. The flowers are complemented with foliage that is green when young and ages to become grey-green as it grows to 10 m tall and the same wide. Metrosideros excelsa is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, growing as a specimen, for avenue planting, or adding to mixed plantings. Alnus jorullensis
Alnus jorullensis, commonly known as the Evergreen Alder or Mexican Alder, is a fast-growing tree that produces a broad crown of open and drooping branches. The branches host dark green leaves with serrated edges and while it will generally be evergreen, in cooler climates it may become deciduous or semi-deciduous as it reaches 10 m tall and 6 m wide. Alnus jorullensis is commonly grown as a specimen, used for screening and shelter, trimmed into a hedge, or planted in the wetter areas of a garden or alongside water features such as ponds and streams.
