Hydrangea quercifolia, commonly known as Oakleaf Hydrangea, features large, white flower heads with each head comprising open flowers which surround a core of florets. These are borne from summer through autumn and contrast nicely with the dark green oak-leaf like foliage as it grows to 1.5 m tall and the same. Hydrangea quercifolia is a great variety for mixed plantings, underplanting larger trees, maintaining in a container, growing as an informal hedge, using as a backdrop for smaller plants, or for including in cottage and “white” gardens.
