Vitis vinifera is an ornamental grape vine grown for its lush and colourful foliage. This deciduous and climbing plant produces decorative foliage that emerges green in spring, ages to mid-green, and develops vibrant orange, red, and purple tones in autumn before falling. Vitis vinifera is commonly used as a climber along a fence, trellis, or the like and should be planted so the autumn colours can be enjoyed. It is well suited to cottage and Mediterranean gardens or for transforming a bland fence.
