Japanese Snowball
“Roseum” is a deciduous variety of Viburnum and is grown for its foliage and stunning flowers. Showy clusters of pompom-like flowers are borne during spring just as the leaves emerge. The flowers are white initially but age to become a rich pink colour and are held on gently arching branches that also host the foliage. The leaves are dark-green with a bronze undertone and develop impressive shades of red and purple in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and the same wide, but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry periods, coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates. “Roseum” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
