What Plants Should I Use?

The most commonly asked question of the Plant Company is, “what plants should I use in my gardens?” Now there are literally thousands of different options available to this open-ended question. To narrow the options, we begin by asking questions such as:

• How tall do you want it to grow?
• Do you want an evergreen plant?
• Do you want the plant to have flowers, and if so, what colour?
• Is the planting position dry and north-facing?
• Are you after a particular garden theme… e.g., white garden, pool garden, etc.

As we work through these questions we narrow the search right down to a few key options. To make this possible for our online shoppers and those wanting ideas and inspiration, we have amazing tools that can help with this process.

The first option is to use the Plant Finder Tool. Simply turn on and off different filters to find plant options according to size, flower colour, and more for your location. The second option is to browse by Garden Style or Browse by Usage if you have a particular style or use intended when visiting The Plant Company and by clicking on Plants. Here you can find plants suited to coastal gardens, plants for a white garden, and so many more!

Our Garden Inspiration pages are packed with award winning gardens for a wide array of different garden styles and specific garden areas. We have identified the plants in each garden so you can replicate the garden or mix and match between different gardens. You can then link through to find the plant in our online catalogue. If we don’t have it available, and you really want that particular variety, simply ask us and we can likely source it for you.
