Coastal garden with Xeronema
The star of the show in this coastal garden landscape is the beautiful Xeronema callistemon (Poor Knights Lily). This evergreen perennial forms a clump of stiff, sword-like foliage and produces rich, deep red flowers on tall stems. Coprosma acerosa (Sand Coprosma) is a hardy native groundcover that can handle harsh coastal conditions. Myoporum laetum (Ngaio) is another hardy native tree with lush green fleshy leaves and showy flowers. They can tolerate harsh coastal conditions and are used as a canopy tree or for screening.
