Blueberry “Brightwell” is a popular variety of Blueberry that produces large sized, dark blue fruit. The firm fruit have a lovely texture and ripen in summer. New foliage is blue-green and matures to mid-green. It is a variety more suited to warmer climates and is best planted with another variety (e.g.,” Powder Blue”) to help with pollination. This shrub typically grows to 1.2 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of cool climates, though frosts in late spring can reduce yields. For this reason, it is more commonly grown in warmer climates. Blueberry “Brightwell” is commonly grown for its delicious fruit and often included into a mixed planting or maintained in a container.
