Morus nigra Wellington Details

Morus nigra Wellington, commonly known as the Mulberry Tree, is a deciduous, fruiting tree. It produces tasty fruit that are rarely found in shops. In spring it produces small white flowers that result in the medium-sized, black, succulent yet tart, berries in summer. The foliage is mid-green and develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 10 m wide but can be contained with trimming. Best performance with this tree is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates though a late frost in spring will cause yield loss and can injure plants. Morus nigra Wellington is commonly grown as a shade tree, added to a mixed planting, or simply grown for fruit production.
