“Blue Pearl” is a variety of Crocus that features lilac-blue flowers edged with darker blue. The showy flowers are borne en masse from late winter through early spring above the lush, grass-like foliage. The combination of flowers and dark green foliage is impressive and lets you know spring has arrived. This bulbous plant typically grows to 15 cm tall and 10 cm wide, performing best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods, frost, cool climates and will often die back during these times to regrow when conditions start to warm. “Blue Pearl” is commonly grown in a container, included in rock and cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, used in border plantings, or planted around the base of trees and shrubs. A mass planting is a must with this variety with bulbs spaced 10-15 cm apart.
