Galanthus elwesii Details

Commonly known as Snowdrops, this variety features white, nodding flowers which have a green, heart shaped marking on the inner petals. The showy blooms are borne on slender stems through late winter above the dark green foliage. This perennial typically grows to 25 cm tall and 15 cm wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry, frost, cool climates, and will die back during these times to regrow when conditions start to warm. This variety is commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, used in border plantings, planted around the base of deciduous trees and shrubs, or maintained in a container. A mass planting is a must with this variety with bulbs spaced 10 cm apart and planted 5 cm deep.
