Iris Tigers Eye

“Tigers Eye” is a colourful variety of Dutch Iris that features flowers with petals that are blue, purple with bronze veins, and yellow. The showy blooms are borne on sturdy stems from late spring above the lush foliage. This perennial typically grows to 40 cm tall and 15 cm wide with the flowers standing up to 70 cm tall. It performs best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site and is tolerant of short periods of dry, frost, and cool climates. It will generally die back during these times to regrow when conditions start to warm. “Tigers Eye” is commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, used in border plantings, or planted around the base of deciduous trees and shrubs. A mass planting is a must with this variety to give impact and bulbs should be spaced 10 cm apart and planted 8-10 cm deep with the pointed end facing up.
