Ixia Giant Details

“Giant” is a stunning variety of Ixia that features masses of cream-white flowers with a dramatic, purple centre. The showy blooms are borne on sturdy stems through late spring above the slender foliage. This perennial typically grows to 30 cm tall and 15 cm wide with the flowers standing up to 65 cm tall. It performs best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site and is tolerant of short periods of dry, frost, and cool climates. It will generally die back during these times to regrow when conditions start to warm. “Giant” is commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, used in border plantings, or grown specifically as a cut flower. A mass planting is a must with this variety and bulbs should be spaced 10 cm apart and planted 5-8 cm deep.
